In this space of the current Ramón Franquelo street there is a section of the defensive fence built by the Hammudí dynasty (11th century) and continued during the Zirí taifa.

This fragment of the medieval wall, between Buenaventura’s Gate and Granada’s Gate, is original of the 11th century being the barbican probably of the 13th century. Both were documented at the foundation level during the archaeological control during the urban renovation works in Beatas Street and surrounding areas.
